WHAT IS STEPHEN MINISTRY?
Stephen Ministry provides long term, one-to-one Christian care to people in the church and community who are experiencing life’s difficulties. Stephen Ministers are trained church members with a heart to care for people who are hurting/suffering. This ministry is confidential – the identity of the care receiver and everything they discuss with their Stephen Minister remains private.
Stephen Ministers provide emotional and spiritual care during many different crises and life difficulties, including:
- Loss of a loved one
- Major medical crisis
- Divorce or separation
- Spiritual crisis
- Providing long-term care to a loved one
- Retirement, unemployment, or a job crisis
- Military deployment of a loved one
- Birth, adoption, miscarriage, or infertility
- Relocation
- Recovery after an accident or disaster
WHAT TO EXPECT
Once a person has met with a Stephen Ministry Coordinator to assess and assure that a Stephen Minister would most ideally suit their needs, they will be assigned a Stephen Minister who will arrange to meet with them for an hour weekly at an agreed upon location for as long as is necessary.
